MORE ABOUT ME For the past 15 years, I have been committed to working with organizations that make a difference in the lives of youths. I have interned for and worked with minority and immigrant community centers, youth residential treatment centers, and youth-focused nonprofits. More recently, I have spent years working in public schools as a school psychologist and a licensed educational psychologist. I have extensive experience administering and reporting on cognitive, academic, and behavioral assessments from preschool thru high school. I have also taught social-emotional and life-skills curricula and provided counseling for both elementary and high school students. Working with my students was especially rewarding, and I continue to pursue opportunities that allow me to continue my work in youth development. The counseling and testing frameworks that I use involve harnessing social justice, strengths-base, and humor. I enjoy teaching children how they may best learn through testing. For counseling, I like to do a mixture of narrative and story-telling therapy, meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy , courage-building, and play therapy. I have worked with students who have anxiety , ADHD , depression , and PTSD . I have also worked with children of color and minorities and the challenges that they may face. When working with children, I take into consideration their developmental stage, their background, and their unique social-emotional needs. With younger children, I believe that games can help them learn more about themselves through a fun and meaningful medium. My experiences have fueled my interest in not only assisting children and young adults, but also proactively fostering their confidence and competence so that they may reach their full potential.

PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL EVALUATIONS Psychoeducational evaluations focus on present challenges that a student may be experiencing. They examine specific cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral factors that inform how a child performs in school. Because of its focused and tailored approach, testing time will be efficient and purposeful. Evaluations are available for students ranging from ages preschool age up to 22 years old. These evaluations include: independent educational evaluations (IEE) for school districts and evaluations for students with learning disabilities. I can also conduct Bilingual Testing in Vietnamese. Families utilizing educational evaluations have used them to support receiving additional support from IEP teams and independent school placement. I also enjoy teaching children how they may best learn through testing. COUNSELING The counseling and testing frameworks that I use involve harnessing social justice, strengths-base, and humor.
